Events run by other groups

Hi everyone, I am messaging you with the information of what will be the last tai chi workshop and Chinese New Year celebration I am organising. I have decided it’s time for me to slow down a bit and take life more gently. I am still running 2 tai chi classes, so definitely not stopping all together :-)

1. Saturday 1-02-25 Tai Chi Worksop:

Master Simon Watson from the Longfei Taijiquan Association of Great Britain (https://longfei-taiji.co.uk) is an amazing knowledgeable tai chi and qigong teacher who will be running a workshop on Saturday 1st February 2025 and joining us at my last Chinese New Year celebration on Sunday the 2nd, the following day.  Angus Clark, an inspiring tai chi teacher from from the School of 'Living Movement' in Devon will also be joining us as well as Mrs Men X. Bao, the founder of our tai chi club and Jane Robinson, a knowledgeable qigong teacher and acupuncturist. So it promises to be a Super celebration.

Both events will be at the ‘Davis Hall’, Howell Hill, West Camel, near Yeovil, Somerset, BA22 7QX

Simon’s workshop will be on ‘10 Yang Style Tai Chi Form’ a day workshop from 10am to 4pm. The 10 Tai Chi Form (also know as 8) was created in China in1999 for tai chi grading purposes.

All who know Simon will know that despite the workshop being a beginners form, anyone at any level of Tai Chi will get plenty out of his inspiring knowledge for health, well-being and vitality based on “10 Yang Style Tai Chi Form.

It is suitable for complete beginners, and all students wishing to improve the quality of their tai chi practise. And brilliant for advanced students and tai chi teachers to see how he brings the sequence together.

The workshop’s purpose will concentrate at taking each movement of the 10 form and give an understanding to the principles of correct body postures and aim to improve the alignment of each move, in allowing one’s tai chi to flow more smoothly.

So beginners will benefit from learning with great accuracy each movement of the 10 tai chi form, and others to improve the quality of their practised forms that can be transferred to other sequences already known.

*Simon Watson is the only non-Chinese disciple from only 3 disciples of the renowned Professor Li Deyin. And Professor Li Deyin is the nephew of the famous Master Li Tianji nicknamed Long Fei (meaning Flying Dragon) from which both our clubs hold it’s name.

The tai chi workshop cost is £45 for the whole day, and tea & coffee will be available free, but do bring your own packed lunch.

2. Sunday 2-02-25 Chinese New Year celebration:

The celebration will be from 1 pm till 4.30 pm. The entrance is only £7 for 3 hours of tai chi & qigong with amazing knowledgeable tai chi and qigong teachers! All proceeds, go to a charity each year which includes the Entrance Fee, the Raffle & the Refreshments (there will be a piggy bank in which to put a donation towards our charity event). So bring plenty of cash as Anne finds amazing prizes to our raffle. Last year, one of them was a half an hour flying a plane voucher!!!

This year's chosen charity is to support the “ME CONNECT here for you” (Charity number 801279), as we have a lovely student coping with this condition who puts so much time and attention to our wonderful practices of tai chi and qigong, we feel it’s a good cause to support.

We have some particular brilliant tai chi and qigong teachers coming to our great day, the wonderful Mrs Men Bao, Simon Watson, Angus Clark & Jane Robinson who will take us through mini workshops sharing their amazing deep knowledge of tai chi and qigong with us all. It will definitely a wonderful event to look forward to.

Looking forward to seeing you on that amazing weekend, best wishes from Zabeth
